Ed Akay has had an interesting life, from modelling to law school, from property development to public speaking, it all started from his childhood where he was forced to develop a "can do" attitude very quickly.
Aged 3 Ed recovered from paralysis, despite not being given a chance by Doctor's at the time. Instead of turning his life in to a "sob story" he chose to focus on the positives and adapted an attitude of "if I can get over this I can do anything".
Ed eventually graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in Politics and Social Policy and then studied law as a post grad at BPP Law School Manchester. Ed utilised his legal training in the corporate and property development world but perhaps more importantly used it to help others, representing people who could not afford Solicitors pro-bono at employment and benefits tribunals. An avid writer, Ed has been writing poetry from a young age and has recently published his first book "Serenades for Helen".
In contrast to his academic success Ed is a strong advocate of the old saying "a healthy body means a healthy mind" Ed has had a keen interest in fitness eventually becoming an athletic model and utilising physical challenges to raise money for charity including the Danny Butcher Foundation which he co-founded last year. Ed currently works with Exeter based sports brand Bear3 amongst others.
Being a natural showman Ed found substantial success on the public speaking circuit winning numerous competitions, training the former British Judo Champion and Exeter's first ever MMA fighter Andy Costello to become a champion speaker himself. Ed launched his own networking event the Torbay Property Meet to create a safe environment for local businesses to grow.
Ed is currently available for both public speaking and modelling engagements.
